REMINDER: Police are appealing for information after yobs pour a drink over a woman with learning difficulties at Bromley North station

POLICE are appealing for information after a woman who has learning difficulties was assaulted and verbally abused by a gang of yobs at Bromley North railway station.

The woman, who is aged in her thirties, was first accosted in McDonalds in Bromley High Street, where a teenage girl and a young boy who was riding on a scooter approached the restaurant and made fun of her.

The pair followed the woman to Bromley North station, where they were joined by a group of three girls. The gang walked to the furthest end of the platform and verbally abused the victim, including using racist language. The girl who was earlier with the young boy then threw a drink over the victim.

The group of three girls left the station, followed shortly afterwards by the girl with the young boy. Police were called and arrived shortly afterwards.

The incident happened at around 7.20pm on Wednesday, May 31 and officers would like to speak to anyone who has any information who has not yet come forward.

Investigating officer Det Con Vanessa Cadrecha from the British Transport Police said: “This woman was verbally abused with racist language and then physically assaulted in a completely unprovoked attack.

“At BTP we do not tolerate hate crime or any level of violence, and everyone should be free to use the railway network without fear of intimidation or abuse.

“I would like to speak to anyone who has any information about this incident or can help to identify the offenders.”

The suspect who poured the drink on the victim is white, around 16 years old, with long dark hair and medium build. She was wearing a pink short-sleeved top, grey or light brown tracksuit bottoms with a white stipe on each side and trainers. She was carrying a bag and jacket.

The boy who was with the first offender is white, around 10 or 12 years old, with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt with the logo HYPE in white writing on the front, dark trousers and a dark backpack. He was riding a white scooter.

Of the three girls who joined at the station, the first offender is a mixed race female with long dark curly hair, aged between 16 and 19 years old and of slim build. She wearing blue jeans, black and white trainers, a beige mac coat and carried a black handbag over her shoulder.

The second offender is a mixed race female, aged 16-19 years old, of slim build, with long dark hair. She was wearing sunglasses on her head, a stripy short sleeved top, blue jeans and black and white shoes.

The third offender is a mixed race Asian woman, aged 16-19 years old, of slim build. She was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, white trainers, with long dark hair and was carrying a black handbag over her left shoulder.
